After a short briefing on the events ahead, greet our expert safari guide.<\/p><p>Depart for Samburu or Shaba Game Reserve. Samburu National Reserve. Arrive for lunch at your safari lodge or tented camp set on the banks of Ewaso Nyiro River. You will have some time to rest and relax before proceeding for an afternoon game drive until dusk.<\/p><p>Covering just 165 sq km of mainly arid plains, Samburu National Reserve is watered by the Ewaso Ngiro river, whose banks are lined by palm groves and dense riverine forest, and attracts a wide range of wildlife. Lunch en route. Arrive and continue with game viewing drive before later being transferred to your safari lodge or tented camp.<\/p><p>Lake Nakuru National Park is one of the top tourist destinations in Africa, famed for the Flamingos, both lesser and greater, that flock to its shores. The lake is also a very important breeding ground and stop over for many species of birds, and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.<\/p><p>Established as Kenya&#8217;s first rhino sanctuary, Lake Nakuru National Park now hosts one of the largest black rhino concentrations in the country while substantial numbers of white rhino have also been introduced. The wildlife viewing is superb throughout the year. Observe massive crocodiles basking in the sun, see the graceful hippos wallowing in muddy water and catch the antics of mischievous monkeys overhead. Watch, too, as the African savannah elephants roaming along the forest edge and spot cheetahs in the open savannah eyeing off their next meal. The lake itself is remarkably picturesque, set against a purple backdrop of the Eburru volcanic mountain range. Other wildlife on the shores include Giraffe, Zebra, Waterbuck and the odd eland and wildebeest.<\/p><p><strong>Walking safari at Crescent Island Game Sanctuary<\/strong><\/p><p>The picturesque sanctuary of Crescent Island is next, and we\u2019ll be treated to a walking tour taking us by the island\u2019s buffalo, antelope, giraffe, zebra, and dik-diks. Climb The Observation Hill, which allows an overall view of the whole park especially the swamps, which are a center of activity for elephants, hippos, buffaloes, and abundant water birds. The surrounding flat grasslands are home to grazing antelopes. Prepare for predator sightings, as opportunistic animals begin roaming the plains in search of prey.
